José María Morelos signs agreement to ensure more female government participation

José María Morelos, Q.R. — An agreement has been signed between the Instituto Quintanarroense de la Mujer (IQM) and the municipality of José María Morelos to ensure more government female participation.

The agreement between the Quintana Roo Woman’s Institute (IQM) and the municipality will strengthen public policies on gender equality issues as well as promote greater interest in the needs of all women in the Mayan area.

On Wednesday, José María Morelos Mayor Erik Borges Yam signed the agreement with the General Director of the IQM, Mary Hadad, that will see more women added to his government.

Hadad thanked the Mayor for his openness and availability on the issue and assured that it is the concern of Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa to continue strengthening the ties between the people and the government.

She explained that the agreement will continue coordinating efforts through the development center for women in the city council with resources that the mayor managed with Governor Mara Lezama, particularly for women in the Mayan area.

“These centers for the development of women consist of hiring professionals in various areas that provide training, advice and support to women so that women can advance in self-sufficiency,” she said.

Borges Yam said his in his government, these ideals of providing more spaces for women are being fulfilled. A clear example is that in his cabinet, most of the officials are women.
