Immigration check stop set up at Tulum fed filter

Tulum, Q.R. — In coordination with National Guard, the National Migration Institute (INM) carried out an immigration operation at the Tulum-Playa del Carmen police filter.

Federal agents stopped public transport and cargo vehicles, as well as select private cars during an immigration inspection. The INM filter was in place nearly two hours while the identification and legal stay of foreign travelers found on board vehicles in the filter were confirmed.

According to the operation officers, they were given high-up orders to set up the screening. National Guard were at the scene to offer support in the event of an aggressive passenger.

They did say that random operations around the municipality of Tulum will be set up more frequently in the future. During their Wednesday checks, no arrests were reported.
