Governor Lezama tours Chetumal Tren Maya station

Chetumal, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama toured section 7 of the Maya Train Monday morning. The governor was in Chetumal making the work tour in place of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

López Obrador was in Quintana Roo over the weekend for a health sector meeting, which did not include his usual project visit.

On Monday, Governor Lezama made the tour instead.

“We are touring the station work, waiting rooms, what will be the commercial premises, bathrooms, the VIP room and the ticket office,” she reported in a statement from the capital city Monday.

“We are walking along the platforms and the boarding and disembarking passenger areas, plus the green and urbanized areas,” she said.

Mara Lezama explained that from Chetumal, visitors will be able to connect with the airport and the nearby archaeological zones such as Oxtankah, which was the largest pre-Hispanic city in the Bay of Chetumal.

Lezama said the Maya Train will allow the world to know the splendor of the Mayan culture while being integrated into cultural tourism that will bring shared prosperity and social well-being to the families of southern Quintana Roo.
