Acapulco, Guerrero — An armed attack in a nightclub in the city of Acapulco over the weekend has left five dead and six injured.
The shooting happened around 8:00 a.m. in Mr. Bar in the Dorado area of the port city where bar services remain open until dawn.
Witness accounts say that armed civilians arrived at the bar and suddenly opened fire against everyone inside, including customers and employees. The shooting was reported to Emergency 911 who sent federal respondents to Mr. Bar.
Roberto Álvarez Heredia, spokesman for the Government of Guerrero said “The report was received through the Emergency 911 line that there were shots from a firearm inside a bar located on the Costera. A preliminary balance of four people deprived of life and 7 injured.” One other has since died.
“The commando entered through the door and began shooting at clients and employees. The bar has already been closed and authorities are investigating who was responsible,” he added.
After the attack, the Secretariat of Public Security of Acapulco managed to capture one person allegedly related to the shooting. So far, authorities have reserved the identity of the deceased and injured.
