Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A small vessel that caught fire off Isla Mujeres was tended to by the Mexican Navy, who report no injuries.
The fire happened Tuesday morning when the vessel Alecrim, who belonged to the fisherman’s cooperative, began to burn in the bay of Isla Mujeres with two crew on board.
Navy personnel arrived and were able to put out the flames. The two crew on board escaped without injuries. La Secretaría de Marina de México said the remains of Alcerim was towed to the dock of the Fifth Naval Region.
There was no report on what caused the fire.
