Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Only material damage was reported in a semi highway roll in Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The double long semi was transporting dairy products when the driver somehow lost control of his unit.
The oversized load flipped onto its side, completely blocking the highway.
National Guard were sent to the accident scene near the Chumpón-Tulum intersection around 7:00 a.m. Thursday. While no injuries were reported, looting became a problem as some passersby stopped to pick up scattered produce from the highway.
Emergency bodies worked for hours to free the federal highway. It is not clear exactly how the driver of the semi lost control and topple the double-long transport unit.
