Cancun, Q.R. — Shoppers at a Walmart in Cancun were forced to evacuate after the report of a gas leak. Emergency 911 sent police and firemen to the store’s Polígono Sur location in SM 321 around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Once on scene, authorities began the mandatory evacuation of approximately 150 people while firemen attended to the gas leak. Elements from Civil Protection also arrived at the store. Together, officials were successful in locating the leak, which was detected in a large stationary LP tank.
Emergency protocols were implemented while the leak was managed, which included closing the store. Reports say that particular location will reopen Wednesday. No injuries were reported during the incident.
