Cozumel, Q.R. — Eight boat passengers were pulled from the sea after their vessel capsized and sank. The incident happened Friday afternoon meters away from a docked cruise ship.
Boat San Pedro took on water and capsized, dumping its eight passengers into the sea. All eight were rescued by other smaller boats in the area. Photos show the small boat overturned near a docked Harmony of the Seas cruise ship.
The sinking happened around 3:00 p.m. beside the docked ship on the south side of the island of Cozumel. A failed bilge pump is the said cause for the eventual sinking. Port authorities are investigating the incident. There were no injuries reported.
