Cancun, Q.R. — A building that was being demolished in Cancun ended up collapsing on the workers performing the demolition.
Workers were at the site of an old warehouse in SM 94 of Cancun Saturday taking down the building using machinery when the roof suddenly collapsed. The operator of machine used in the destruction project was saved by its metal cage and was not reported as injured.
Other on site workers managed to run from the collapsing concrete roof and were also not reported to have suffered any injuries.
Municipal Civil Protection personnel along with members from the H. Fire Department arrived to deal with the situation while police came to cordon off the area. Reports say the collapse was due to the workers not following demolition protocol, causing the roof to fall.
