City camera captures attempted hit on Playa del Carmen street vendor

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police arrived at the site of the reports of gunfire to find at least one bullet embedded in metal. The bullet was meant for a Playa del Carmen street vendor who managed to dodge the aim of a young man trying to shoot him.

City surveillance caught the man on video Tuesday as he ran from the scene after missing his intended target. City surveillance also captured the man being driven away in a Playa del Carmen taxi.

Police found the gun discarded near the scene as the shooter made his getaway. The shooting happened around 3:00 p.m. on Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. The man is alleged to have taken several shots at the street vendor but missed each time.

The unidentified street vendor was able to run from the area unharmed. The gun used was located near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 38th Street just before city cameras captured him hopping into a Playa del Carmen taxi.
