Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — New overhead power lines have been installed along 115 Avenue in Playa del Carmen. The new lines will help prevent power outages in the west residential area of Villas del Sol.
According to Solidaridad Undersecretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, Fabián Antonio Herrera, the Federal Electricity Commission *CFE) installed the new lines Friday.
“We are avoiding these power outages that the residents of this area have suffered during the previous weeks,” said Herrera.
CFE cut power to the area at 8:00 a.m., promising to have the work complete by 4:00 p.m. the same day. While power was cut, Aguakan took advantage of the shut-down water pumps to do maintenance of their own.
In a statement, Aguakan said they “successfully carried out various maintenance tasks and improvements to its systems throughout the city in order to make efficient use of the time during which the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) suspended the service of energy on August 18.”
Their maintenance was carried over into Saturday. “The maintenance included maneuvers on the medium voltage line in the Catchment Zone, a hydraulic adaptation to increase pumping in the 12 well in the Villas del Sol subdivision and adaptations in 20-inch conduction lines in the Ejido neighborhood,” they explained.
