Chacahua, Oaxcaca — The remains of a whale were found along a beach in Chacahua in the state of Oaxaca Tuesday by nearby residents who reported the body to State Civil Protection.
Residents from Villa de Tututepec de Melchor Ocampo made the finding along Lagunas de Chacahua where the 20-meter whale was found lying. Personnel from the Oaxaca State Civil Protection Coordination arrived to confirm the discovery before notifying authorities responsible for conducting an investigation into the death of the whale.
Environmental authorities have begun their corresponding investigation into the arrival and death of the mammal, which they report, is a female Blue Whale. They say the whale had been washed up on the shore for several days before being found.
