Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A man who had been detained by Municipal Police agents managed to free himself from his handcuffs and flee. However, while running across the federal highway, he was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.
The now-deceased man has been identified as Efrén N, who was arrested for an administrative offence. He was transferred to police facilities in Puerto Morelos where he managed to free himself from his handcuffs.
He made a dash for the door, running from the building where he continued to make his way across the highway. However, before getting all the way across, he was hit by a car.
Police were on scene of the Friday accident to investigate.
