Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — The municipality of Puerto Morelos reports the deployment of additional security during the end-of-year celebrations. Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz says more than 20 additional security elements will patrol beaches and streets around Puerto Morelos and Leona Vicario.
In a statement she said “a joint surveillance operation that includes tours by land and sea by federal, state and municipal authorities will seek to maintain security and guarantee tranquility to Puerto Morelos families and visitors during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.”
Rodolfo Ruiz Hernández, Coordinator of municipal Civil Protection, reported that special operations are being maintained for the end-of-the-year celebrations including surveillance on the beaches and prevention tours through the streets Puerto Morelos and Leona Vicario with special attention in the hotel zone.
With this, we guarantee that, in the event of an incident, we will be able to attend to it immediately, he explained adding that during this particular vacation period, only minor incidences have been reported, mostly car accidents.
He pointed out that a command post has been set up in the hotel zone, a post that will remain in place until January 9, 2022, which is when the Guadalupe-Reyes operation ends.
León Salas Licea, director of the Fire Department, said that they will also be maintaining command posts to deal with incidents that are anticipated since fireworks on December 31 are common practice.
