15 arrested and two Tulum businesses seized believed used by criminals in recent deadly shooting

Tulum, Q.R. — A total of 15 people were arrested after three building searches in Tulum Friday. In a press release, the FGE said that after field work, the FGE, accompanied by other levels of security, completed search warrants on three buildings.

Inside the buildings, police seized narcotics and ammuniation. The narcotics found included marijuana, crack and cocaine. All 15 were transferred to police facilities in Tulum.

The establishments searched included a bar, a gym and a building. The bar and gym were also seized by authorities. The FGE says these establishments were used by one of the criminal groups that participated in the Tulum La Malquerida restaurant attack on October 20 that killed two tourists.

The operation involved participation from the FGE, the National Guard, army, navy and Quintana Roo police that make up the Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace and Security.
