Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel authorities were called to the scene of a small crocodile wandering around a seawall on Av. Rafael E. Melgar.
Elements from Civil Protection along with firefighters and lifeguards, were on the lookout for the small reptile who was reportedly wandering the coastal area. The Director of Civil Protection, Héctor Mac Marín, said they made the safe capture and relocation of the crocodile after receiving a report that the reptile was in the vicinity of the Palace Hotel.
That report had lifeguards on the lookout for him as they made tours to Caletita beach, however, they came up empty handed.
A later report was received that the crocodile was spotted at the Aldora Pier on Calle 5, where Mac Marín says, it was finally captured. The reptile was handed over to the appropriate authorities who released him back into the wild.
