Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua — A woman who intended to visit an inmate in the Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) of Ciudad Juárez got herself arrested Sunday. Two female guards took the woman into custody after finding more than 101,000 pesos in cash on her.
The cash was located during a routine check of prison visitors. Norma Leticia “M”, 57, was patted down after guards noticed a suspicious attitude. Stuffed in her underwear they found the 101,200 pesos in paper bills.
In a continuation of their physical search, the Cereso guards also found five Bic brand lighters, two electronic lighters, eight hands-free devices for cell phones, two USB connectors for cell phones and one TV remote.
According to the guards, she attempted to bribe them with 50,000 in cash once they discovered her additional loot. Norma Leticia “M” was arrested. Charges are pending.
