Cozumel, Q.R. — “A viewpoint on the eastern side of the island that was evidently vandalized in recent days, has been repaired,” the Municipal Government reported. Since the space is a main tourist attraction, the Municipal Government of Cozumel worked quickly to have it repaired.
The viewpoint was one of several that were rehabilitated in November of 2022. They were fixed after going years without maintenance. Last week, one of those recently renovated viewpoints was heavily vandalized.
In a statement, the Municipality of Cozumel said the viewpoint was repaired after citizen complaints. “In response to citizen complaints and after an inspection at the site, the state of these sites, Chumul, San Martín and Chen Rio, was confirmed, the latter being the viewpoint that was in poor condition due to the misuse to which it was subjected.”
After carrying out an assessment, broken posts, boards and fixtures were changed.
