Cancun, Q.R. — Two children were rushed to hospital in Cancun after they were found floating in a private home’s swimming pool.
The incident occurred in SM 90 before 2:00 p.m. when a domestic home caretaker had put her own daughter down for a nap. The 23-year-old mother said that 10 minutes later, she saw her daughter floating in the home’s pool
When she rushed outside, she also found the child of the homeowner in the pool. Both children were rushed to hospital. The woman’s 2-year-old daughter died, while the homeowner’s 17-month old son responded to medical treatment, but has since fallen into a coma.
An investigation into the accident has been initiated by the State Attorney General’s Office, indicating that an oversight caused the occupants of the home to not notice the moment in which both children fell into the water.
