Speed and wet roads said cause of crash between two heavy units outside Tulum

Tulum, Q.R. — Two large vehicles traveling the federal highway outside Tulum late Saturday night collided. The collision left a section of the highway closed near Caleta Tankah when one of the vehicles jackknifed.

The crash happened between a semi trailer and a five ton company truck. The crash caused the engine of the semi to catch fire. It’s trailer kept the other highway lane closed.

Highway transit officers and firemen from Tulum had their work cut out for them while attending to a vehicle fire and oncoming traffic in the Saturday night rain.

National Guard Road Division along with paramedics were also requested at the scene. Neither of the truck’s drivers were injured in the crash. The collision is being blamed on speed and wet roads.
