Reports of shots fired lead Cancun police to murder scene

Cancun, Q.R. — Reports of shots fired in a Cancun residential area Wednesday night lead police to a murder. City officers responding to the 11:30 p.m. report arrived in SM 92 to find an injured male.

By the time the ambulance arrived, the man had died. He was shot to death while parked in his car. A female passenger allegedly fled from the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

An area search operation by police was implemented which lead to the arrests of three. The detained were arrested in SM 101 and have been identified as 18-year-old José N, 18-year-old Kevin N and 20-year-old Edison N.

The now deceased, who has not been publicly identified, is reported to have been a former city police officer. On Thursday, the Fiscalia General confirmed the dead man was once part of the city police corporation, but was discharged in 2018. Cancun authorities are continuing with their investigation.
