Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Police in Puerto Morelos were presented with training certificates, uniforms and new equipment Thursday morning in a ceremony that the mayor says should be a proud moment since the police unit is only two years old.
Municipal president Laura Fernández Piña helped deliver the uniforms, equipment and training certificates to the men and women of la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito of Puerto Morelos.
Gumercindo Jiménez Cuervo, head of the Seguridad Pública y Tránsito del municipio for Puerto Morelos, was also on hand to deliver the equipment and certificates.
“Thanks to you, women and men, who stepped forward and said ‘I want to be a policeman’ to serve my community. This is a corporation that has been in constant preparation and training. We are going at a firm pace because we want to be the best police in Quintana Roo,” he said.
Laura Fernandez urged the 180 municipal police to continue striving to deliver their best and to do so knowing that the residents of the municipality have confidence in their work.
“We have to demonstrate with facts that we are the best police in the state. A dignified police is what we want and that’s why we care about equipping them with uniforms and equipment. I congratulate all those who received their certificates.
“We will continue working for a Puerto Morelos with social peace, with tranquility for all families,” she reiterated.
During his speech Jiménez Cuervo added, “We know that the challenge is to serve a society that demands day-by-day, more from public servants. From this microphone, I urge you to comply with and enforce regulations and laws so that we are worthy of the trust that constituents demand of us and that is achieved with work and social proximity of excellence, which is the reason for our strength.”
The event was attended by numerous heads of the police corporation as well as members of Puerto Morelos city hall.
