Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A minor has been taken into police custody in Playa del Carmen after being accused of extortion. The 17-year-old youth was arrested on Fifth Avenue by Quintana Roo police.
He is accused of extortion and injuries to at least one unnamed person. Police say the youth was arrested after the victim took advantage of police presence. They say the victim approached police and explained that the extortionist, who was in the company of other people, had physically attacked him, demanding money in exchange for “floor rights”.
