Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A brief strike between a Playa del Carmen Walmart store and its employees was reported Saturday. The group of striking workers were demanding their pay and bonuses.
The store’s employees claimed irregular payments and no productivity bonuses, which caused them to strike outside the store. A CROC union leader was able to meet with Walmart managers and come to an agreement.
The employees went back to work after managers agreed to the terms of overtime payment and bonuses in accordance with the Federal Labor Law.
Talks are scheduled to resume Monday morning to ensure the Labor Laws are complied with regarding 8-hour shifts, lunches and periodic monthly meetings of the company with the workers’ review commission.
