National Guard locates dozens of illegal migrants in trucks outside Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — At least two National Guard pickup trucks were on scene Saturday afternoon to help transport dozens of illegal migrants. The migrants were found shortly after 3:00 p.m. near the Cancun International Airport.

The vehicles they were traveling in were detected by National Guard elements who located more than 40 people traveling in two vehicles. None of those on board could prove their legal stay in Mexico.

The migrants were transferred into the bed of the National Guard trucks where they waited for the National Institute of Migration (INM) officers.

Information as to how National Guard became aware of their presence or how long the migrants been in the country is not clear. It is also unknown where they were traveling to and from.
