Chetumal, Q.R. — The State Attorney General’s Office has reported the apprehension of a gang of Chetumal thieves who, after a chase, were taken into custody.
La Policía Ministerial de Investigación (PMI) reports that the five subjects arrested in Chetumal who are known as la Banda de los Bahena, have been taken into police custody on numerous occasions for home robberies, vehicle thefts, commerce break-ins and pedestrian possession stripping on Chetumal streets. Police note that some of the crimes have been reported with violence.
Cheutmal police say on various occasions, they have also been linked with vehicle content and accessory theft on parked cars in various parts of the city. Two of those arrested, who have been identified as the Bahena brothers, entered the Social Reintegration Center (Cereso de Chetumal) on one occasion for the crime of theft, but obtained their freedom due to negligent legal proceedings by the Prosecutor’s Office.
All five have been turned over to the ministerial criminal procedure where they remain in custody and continue to wait for their criminal linking process.
