José María Morelos, Q.R. — Internet and phone have been reestablished in the municipality of José María Morelos after a wildfire affected the lines. On Sunday, a large brush fire nearly four kilometers long left municipal land scorched.
The highway fire, which happened near the community intersection of Santo Domingo, burned trees along with three Telmex poles. One of the poles was still smoldering Monday evening when Telmex workers arrived to make the repairs.
Approximately 800 meters of communication lines were affected by the wild fire that was eventually extinguished by the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR).
Telmex began the replacement of the wiring around 5:00 p.m. and were able to reestablish internet service shortly after 9:00 p.m.
The state has been dealing with dozens of ongoing fires, most of which are being blamed on intentional burns getting out of control.
