Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Health officials around the state continue to inspect businesses selling vapor products since they are prohibited.
The latest seizure of products was made at Plaza Las Américas in Playa del Carmen after la Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (Cofepris) seized hundreds of the vapor-smoking products from at least four different shops.
The sale of electronic cigarettes are prohibited since they have been shown to cause serious health effects.
“Yesterday we did tours in Las Americas for vapor or electronic cigarettes. What occurred was the assurance of the electronic cigarettes,”explained Francisco Javier head of Cofepris.
The official is reminding merchants that they will proceed to seize these products and sanction the establishment who they detect selling them since they are a banned product.
The Playa del Carmen seizure of vapor or electronic cigarettes is the most recent after both Chetumal and Cancun businesses were also inspected for selling them. Hundreds of the e-cigarettes were also seized from those inspections.
