Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A five car pile-up on a busy Playa del Carmen roadway Thursday left immobilized motorists frustrated. The accident happened on the 84th Street overpass ascend, resulting in a closure of the street bridge.
Police and ambulances arrived to tend to the collisions that is said to have originated from a speeding vehicle that was unable to stop. That inability to stop caused a rear-end chain reaction that involved five cars being projected against one another.
Paramedics assessed those involved. No one was seriously injured. Police remained on scene while tow trucks arrived to remove the damaged vehicles. The ascend lane was reopened once it was cleared.
