Holbox, Q.R. — The construction of a fire station for the island of Holbox should start in February. Christian Stenta, Vice President of the Holbox Hotel Association, says agreements have been made between the private initiative, the Lázaro Cárdenas City Council and the State Government.
Stenta says the construction of the building will be more than just a firehall.
“It is a project that goes further than a fire station. It will be a corporate building for public health and safety, so it will also have an office for the IMSS, the ISSSTE, apart from Civil Protection, Public Security and the firefighters, naturally,” he explained.
The project was put together and agreed upon between the private initiative, the Lázaro Cárdenas City Council and the State Government. It will consist of at least three stages and be a multi-million-peso investment.
“It would be an investment of around 25 million pesos and it will implemented in stages starting with the fire station,” he added.
In Augusts of 2023, the island of Holbox received a 2017 Ford firetruck with a capacity of 3,500 liters. Lezama said it was one of two trucks received as donations.
