Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two Americans were arrested for drug possession Wednesday by Playa del Carmen police. The pair, both 27, were picked up after patrolling officers caught them exchanging what appeared to be bags of drugs.

During an inspection, Municipal Police found at least three different types of narcotics in their possession. In a report, police said Americans Samuel “N” and Robert “N” were arrested and their foreign-plated vehicle seized for safekeeping.
The pair are facing narcotics charges.
“Officers from the Playa del Carmen Citizen Security Secretariat arrested two foreign men for their alleged involvement in drug crimes. During a surveillance patrol in the Ejido neighborhood, officers detected two men exchanging small bags of suspected drugs, so they were immediately stopped,” the SSC Playa del Carmen reported.
“After a preventive inspection, several small bags containing green vegetables, a crystalline substance, and a pink powder with characteristics of narcotics were seized, as well as cell phones and a vehicle with foreign license plates, which was taken for safekeeping.
“The detainees, identified as Samuel “N” and Robert “N,” both 27 years old and originally from the United States, were informed of their rights and taken to the appropriate facilities for medical certification.

“Subsequently, along with the seized evidence, they were handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Dealing Crimes, which will determine their legal status.”
