Tulum, Q.R. — Jessica Orozco Zavala has been appointed the Director of Traffic and Road Safety of Tulum. The announcement was made Monday by Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo. Orozco Zavala is the first woman to hold the Tulum position. During the announcement, Castañón Trejo highlighted her career.
“Jessica Orozco Zavala holds a law degree from the Technological University of Mexico and a diploma in Conflict Resolution from UNAM.
“Her experience includes a decade (2010-2020) as a member of the former Federal Police, where she held operational and administrative positions, excelling as head of the Internal Affairs Department.
“In 2022, she joined the ranks of the Tulum Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection, playing a key role in the coordination group for restoring public order.

“Subsequently, she assumed the position of assistant in the institution’s Department of Internal Affairs, becoming its head in April 2023. During her tenure, she led the integration of files and the development of administrative procedures against police personnel for conduct contrary to the principles of public security institutions.”
It is the second change made to the Tulum Police department this month. On July 2, Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo led the swearing-in of Edgar Aguilar Rico, the new Secretario de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) for the municipality of Tulum.
