Emergency personnel talk tourist down from top of Parque El Jaguar structure

Tulum, Q.R. — An Argentine woman was rescued by Tulum emergency services Wednesday in Jaguar Park. Civil Protection personnel, firemen and municipal police were called after the woman was seen sitting on top of a 25-meter-tall structure.

Park visitors who saw the woman alerted park staff who called emergency services. Firemen, Civil Protection and Municipal Police responded with specialized personnel from Geavig (Specialized Group for Attention to Domestic and Gender Violence) who were able to talk the woman down.

Once down, 48 year old Elisa “N” from Argentina was escorted by Geavig (Grupo Especializado de Atención a la Violencia Intrafamiliar y de Género) personnel for medical and psychological care. Elisa “N” is a tourist to the area and was put in contact with her family.

The Wednesday afternoon incident at the Parque El Jaguar structure in the Tulum National Park is being investigated as a suicide attempt.
