Holbox, Q.R. — Authorities have reported searching four buildings on the island of Holbox after a shooting left one islander dead. Armed with search warrants, agents from the State Attorney General’s Office in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, National Guard and State Police, searched the buildings.

According to the State Attorney General, narcotics, ammo and a firearm were found and seized and one person was arrested during the operation.
Authorities first searched a property on Pargo Street between Paseo Kuka Street and Gonzalo Street. Officers found a a firearm, ammo and drugs believed to be marijuana and a solid crystalline substance. David Jesús “N” was arrested nearby and was found to be carrying suspected narcotics.
A second operation took place at a property located on Esmedregal Street, between Kuka Street and Gerónimo Street. Officers also seized marijuana-like weed and a solid crystalline substance from that property.
The third search took place at a property on Palomino Street, at the corner of Paseo Kuka Avenue. Agents seized dried, green grass with the characteristics of marijuana, as well as a clear, granular substance.
In another operation at a home on Vulkay Street, between Kuka Street and Hernán Cortés Street. The participating agents seized dried green grass and a solid crystalline substance.

During the first search, police reported the arrest of David Jesús “N” “for their alleged involvement in acts likely constituting drug trafficking offenses in Lázaro Cárdenas.”
In early July, a 23 year old islander was found shot dead off a Holbox beach. The fatal shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on the island’s northwestern side. Police have not provided a motive for the shooting.
