Cancun, Q.R. — A Telmex office in Cancun was robbed over the weekend with thieves stealing cash, computers and cell phones.
The robbery happened Saturday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. at the Teléfonos de México (Telmex) office on Avenida José López Portilo when at least two men entered the building in SM 61. The pair, who were reportedly armed, began to remove computers and cell phones before demanding cash.
The store, along with three of its employees, were robbed.
A citizen call to Emergency 911 reported the robbery. Members of the State and Municipal Police arrived at the scene activating a Red Code to hunt for those responsible, but the men had already escaped.
A corner food vendor witness said the men escaped in a vehicle that was waiting for them.
There were no reported physical injuries. Police have yet to release an exact value of the robbery, however, their first estimate says 10 computers, 20 cell phones and approximately 150,000 peso in cash was stolen.
The Attorney General’s Office continues to investigate.
