Cancun taxi driver, passenger killed in armed attack

Cancun, Q.R. — An armed attack in Region 233 of Cancun claimed the lives of a taxi driver, his passenger, and left a young woman with injuries. The shooting, which targeted the two men in the Cancun taxi, happened at 1:45 a.m. along 33rd Street. Police arrived to find the pair deceased in the front seats of the taxi.

The woman, who was shopping nearby, was a collateral victim. After hearing the gunfire, she began to run but was hit in a limb. Paramedics took her to the General Hospital.

A hypothesis of police indicated that the occupants of the taxi were apparently carrying out a drug deal when armed individuals arrived in a blue vehicle and shot them several times.

One of the deceased, the driver of the unit, has been identified as 51-year-old Manuel Enrique N. The area was cordoned off until 3:00 a.m. while authorities processed the scene.
