Cancun residents subdue man accused of extorting area businesses

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun man residents accused of intimidating businesses for extortion payments was hogtied and left for police. Cancun police officers found the man laying facedown on a dirt street bound by hands and feet after being captured by angry area residents.

A group of residents of SM 245 caught the man Saturday and subdued him after a report of attempted extortion with a gun. Things turned when residents realized the gun he used was a toy. He was hustled to the ground by a group of men, tied and left in the street.

Area residents told responding police officers that he was known for his intimidation tactics against small area stores, demanding extortion-type payments from them.
