Cancun police make arrests after exchange of gunfire

Cancun, Q.R. — One injured and one arrested was the result of a confrontation between Cancun police and criminals. On Monday afternoon, police arrested two males from inside an older model SUV after exchanging gunfire in SM 259.

The arrests were made on Tulipanes Avenue after police were notified the vehicle was stolen. Quintana Roo Police began a pursuit of the vehicle through Cancun streets that finally ended on Tulipanes Avenue.

Once the two men inside realized they were surrounded, they began to shoot at police who returned fire, injuring one. The driver of the stolen truck was transferred to hospital under escort with one bullet wound. His passenger was arrested unharmed.
