Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police officers were in the right place at the right time to save a young man from being a kidnapping victim. On Wednesday night, Cancun officers were witnesses to a young man being forced into a car by two other people.
They intercepted and were not only able to rescue the youth, but also arrest two of the people who tried to kidnap him.
The incident happened around 10:00 p.m. in front of shopping mall on Tulum Avenue. Patrolling officers just happened upon the incident as it was unfolding. Two people had already grabbed the man and were trying to force him into a waiting car.
When they realized what was happening, they requested backup and were able to thwart the attempted kidnapping.
The victim was rescued and transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office to give his statement. Inside the kidnapping get away car, police found a shovel, sticks and a machete.
A man and woman were arrested from the scene. Two others who were involved managed to run before additional officers arrived. They were not arrested, however, the motorcycle they left behind was seized along with the white car.
