Cancun, Q.R. — Several days after the passing of the last storm, at least one tree weakened by the heavy rains finally toppled. Unfortunately, it did so and landed on a parked vehicle, also taking out a set of CFE electric lines.
The felled tree accident occurred during the afternoon hours along Avenida Náder in Cancun’s city center after the driver just happened to park in the wrong place at the wrong time. The mature tree split, with a large section of it landing on the small car, but not before catching branches in the overhead electric lines.
CFE personnel arrived to the SM 2 area after the tree instantly knocked out power to several city blocks. Two trucks from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) arrived and worked to restore power.
Civil Protection inspectors also arrived to deal with the downed tree. There were no reports of injuries.
