100 bags of marijuana sees two arrested at Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police in Cancun have taken two men into custody who were anonymously reported for selling drugs in the continental mainland area of Isla Mujeres.

Quintana Roo Police in Benito Juarez, together with Grupo de Coordinación por la Seguridad de Quintana Roo, made the arrest around noon Monday after receiving an anonymous report that the pair were selling drugs in front of a hotel that was under construction.

The Ministry of Public Security reported that when driving toward the construction site, police did see two men near Punta Sam matching the descriptions. When stopped, the men were found carrying 100 bags of marijuana.

Marina personnel arrived to support police as the pair were taken into custody and other nearby construction sites reviewed. The arrested were handed over to the Ministerio Público del Fuero Común.
