Two arrested in Cancun airport for falsifying identification

Cancún, Q.R. — Two people were arrested at the Cancun International Airport after they presented federal officers with fake identification.

The pair, both of Honduran nationality, were attempting to board a plane bound for Monterrey, Nuevo León when they were asked for their identification.

According to la Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana, the incident happened in Terminal 2 when, during a routine inspection, a 17-year-old female presented officers with a false CURP (Clave Única de Registro Poblacional) and the man produced a false driver’s license from the State of Yucatan.

Officers immediately suspected the identification to be false, and upon further questioning, learned they were of Honduran nationality. Since it is a crime to falsify official documents, both were arrested and held for the public prosecutor.
