Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A family in the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto lost their modest home after it went up in flames. Municipal firemen were at the home on 91st Street in the Emiliano Zapata I neighborhood in response to a 911 report.
It was around 8:00 p.m. when the tiny home began to burn. It’s wood structure and sheet metal roof were destroyed by the fire which ate through the home within minutes.
Municipal Police officers assisted local firemen by keeping curious neighbors at bay while they extinguished flames. Personnel from Civil Protection investigated the cause of the fire, locating the source as an unattended stove.
According to the report, the fire was started by a lite stove that was left unattended. The gas flames reached nearby objects that caught fire and quickly spread throughout the small home.
