Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — People at a Puerto Aventuras beach recorded a double waterspout passing over the sea. On Thursday afternoon, people at the beach videoed the spouts, which have become common this time of year.
According to the National Water Commission, the spouts were generated due to the presence of area thunderstorms. Authorities have not reported any injuries to people or boats along the coast since neither spout made landfall.
However, maritime authorities were still notified of their development.
Tornadic waterspouts are simply tornados over water. The funnel shaped waterspout is connected to a cloud and are rotating columns of air that normally do not suck up water as they travel.
