Chetumal, Q.R. — Anti-covid-19 booster shots for adults are being administered in three municipalities of the state. The booster shot program began Monday. The Government of Mexico is administering the Cuban Abdala vaccine to those over the age of 18, including the elderly over the age of 60.
The state of Quintana Roo will be offering the boosters for five days. “From January 9 to 13, vaccination campaigns continue for the population aged 18 and over in José María Morelos, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Chetumal,” government of Quintana Roo health officials announced.
The booster program is aimed at adults who have not received a full first and second vaccination dose. The program will be expanded to other municipalities in the state in coming weeks.
The Cuban vaccine began arriving at the Mexico City International Airport toward the end of 2022. More than 5 million doses arrived at the end of December, meant for distribution around the country as covid-19 figures begin to increase.
