Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three men found guilty of attempted murder have each been sentenced to 25 years. All three received the sentence during a failed murder attempt in 2023.
According to police, José Gilberto Mar Noh, Carlos Daniel Jiménez Reyes and Gabriel Alfonso Ortiz de la Cruz each received a 25-year prison sentence for attempted homicide.
“The events occurred in Playa del Carmen on the afternoon of January 20, 2023, when the three aforementioned individuals were walking along 90th Avenue and 12th Street, in the Ejidal neighborhood, approaching the victim’s home, located in the same neighborhood.
“After arriving at the home, José Gilberto Mar Noh approached the victim and pulled a pistol from under his clothing, telling him he would kill him. He then tried to fire the weapon, but it jammed. However, on a second attempt, he managed to fire it, injuring the victim in the left thigh,” read the report.
Each was sentenced and fined 155,610 pesos, as well as 5,808.32 pesos for material damages.
