Cancun police charge man with weapon offence and attempted murder after he shot at them

Cancun, Q.R. — A 29-year-old male has been arrested for attempted murder after shooting at a Cancun police officer. The shooting happened on Thursday when the male, Ángel P.B., was trying to escape from Municipal Police.

In doing so, he pulled out a pistol and fired at one of the officers. His shot missed. Officers proceeded to disarm and arrest the man, who they report, is from the state of Guerrero.

He became a person of interest after acting suspicious and running when patrolling officers arrived in SM 260 around 10:00 a.m. He was pursued on foot by police when he ignored their order to stop.

A second officer who got out of the police unit to chase him was the officer shot at. The fleeing man was eventually captured and arrested on charges of possession of an illegal firearm and attempted murder of an officer.
