Cancun, Q. R. — An early Monday morning accident in central Cancun left one police officer and one civilian injured. The accident happened just after midnight between a patrol unit and city cab in SM 91.
Both vehicles met at the intersection of José López Portillo Avenue and Calle 71. The Cancun patrol truck ended up smashed front-first into a city pole, resulting in extensive damage. The taxi was located up against the side of a concrete house.
The damaged police unit was from the the Specialized Group for Family and Gender Violence Care (Geavig). Drivers from both vehicles involved were transferred to Cancun hospital.
