Cancun, Q.R. — Two minor boys seen cleaning windshields in Cancun have been taken into protective custody. On Wednesday, authorities responded to the report of two minors in SM 219 alone, working along the public roadway.
Personnel from Grupo Especial de Atención a Víctimas de Violencia Familiar y de Género (GEAVI) attended to the two minors who ran when they saw authorities. The two boys were located hiding inside a nearby establishment.
Authorities learned that they had been left alone and were out working cleaning car windows. The minors, 10 and 12 years of age respectively, said that they do not have a father and that their mother was not at home. It was not the first time they were out cleaning windshields.
Both boys were taken to their home where authorities verified that no one was there. Since they were unable to locate the mother, both were transferred to DIF, the National System for Integral Family Development, a public institution for social assistance.
