Emergency services treat seven in Cancun bus-combi collision

Cancun, Q.R. — Seven passengers in a city combi were treated for injuries Thursday night. The passengers were injured after their van collided with a city bus. The accident was reported on Miguel Hidaldo Avenue in SM 72.

Passengers told police the driver of the bus was in the process of merging into a lane when it collided with the combi. Paramedics from the Cancun fire department, along with Civil Protection personnel, arrived at the scene of the accident.

According to Bomberos Cancun, seven people were stabilized at the scene before being transferred to hospital.

“We received a report of a vehicle accident on Avenida Miguel Hidalgo involving a public transportation van and a bus. Upon arriving at the scene, the Cancun Fire Department, in coordination with Cancun Civil Protection units and supporting ambulances, provided pre-hospital care to the passengers.

“Several people were injured. They were stabilized on the scene and transported to hospitals for medical attention. The timely intervention of emergency services brought the situation under control and ensured the safety of those affected. We reiterate our call to the public to drive responsibly and obey the speed limits, as prevention saves lives.”

Traffic was slowed in the area while emergency services attended to the injured and police had both vehicles towed.
